Jaynie Crimmins

The work of Jaynie Gillman Crimmins is inspired by nature’s love of harmony, balance and proportion and its production of a multitude of outcomes from very restrictive means.  She repurposes her shredded junk mail, creating elaborate, textural sculptures that interweave a narrative about her beliefs, behaviors, values, goals.
Crimmins’ work reflects both the endlessness of our consumer culture where the choices are limitless and the constraint of nature where choices are governed by basic building blocks.
Her work examines cultural habits and principles, repurposes quotidian materials, uses symmetry and economy of form and brings the unnoticed into view.
